He became a reference through his contributions to the theory and practice of econometrics. His authority in the fields of econometrics and statistics was established through his work as a co-founder and co-editor of the Journal of Econometrics, created in 1973, and founding editor, in 1981, of the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics.
