Academic Success at ULisboa – Professors

Committed to instructing and sensitising its teaching staff regarding the need for pedagogical training, the University of Lisbon promotes a series of initiatives that encourage a change in teaching practices.

The most recent international studies point to the need to introduce a change in teaching models and traditional pedagogical practices in Portugal, which are still heavily based on the professor's transmission of content and strict preparation for assessment exams. Such practices should be replaced by active learning teaching methods, the organisation of continuous activity and the development of cooperative work processes, as evidenced by good international practices, among which we can highlight .

To achieve this, professors must be prepared and made aware of the need for pedagogical training. They must be challenged and accompanied through the changing process for which they are instructed and tasked. To this end, ULisboa has designed a Pedagogical Development Programme for Professors.
