ULisboa strengthens its position in the Taiwan Ranking.

ULisboa is the leading Portuguese university in the Taiwan Ranking. In the European context ULisboa is in the 79th position, having increased 6 places regarding 2015. Globally, it has increased 12 positions and is currently placed in the position 195, reinforcing last years trend.

The Taiwan Ranking, developed by the National Taiwan University, also known as NTU or “Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities” is a ranking that displays the performance of scientific research of the institutions through bibliometric methods recurring to criteria of productivity, impact and excellence of research. It is based upon a number of information sources, mainly the Essential Science Indicators (ESI), Web of Science (WoS) and the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), by Thomson-Reuters.

Generally speaking it provides global and partial rankings in 6 major areas of knowledge (Fields) which in turn can be subdivided into 14 subject areas.

ULisboa leads in three of four major areas (Fields) in which Portuguese Universities are evaluated  namely: Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences and is 2nd in Life Sciences.

Concerning the disciplinary areas (Subjects) ULisboa is in the first place among Portuguese universities in 10 of the 14 subjects, and is in the 2nd place  in just three of such subjects:

Subjects as Civil Engineering (6th place at European level and 28th worldwide), Mechanical Engineering (10th place at European level and 40th worldwide) and Mathematics (15th place at European level and 52º Worldwide) emphasize, by all standards, a most remarkable position.

Regarding the remaining subject areas, ULisboa is positioned in this ranking in a very consistent manner, around 30th place in Europe and 100th worldwide.
