Nursing Managemen
The Course aims to train masters in nursing management (NM), capable of:
Develop skills needed to innovate, contributing to greater efficiency, competitiveness and team leadership skills in healthcare units
Understand the importance of NM at the macro and micro level of public and private health units;
Understand the dynamics of change in management processes in health units
Develop skills for the decision-making process in complex and unpredictable situations, at the level of NM, according to the principles of professional ethics and deontology Lead teams and management processes within the scope of nursing services.
Graduates of the Master's Degree in Nursing Management are awarded a master's degree, level 7 of the QNQ, and have specific and common skills for nursing care management, care and team leadership, the management of services/units and institutions, the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, and the creation of original applications. They can pursue their professional activity in three distinct sectors: the public sector, the private sector, and private practice (health centres, hospitals, clinics, companies, schools, residential establishments for the elderly, among others). This course provides access to the training component for the attribution of Advanced Increased Competence in Management by the Order of Nurses and corresponds to the training component for competitions for Nurse Manager in health organisations.
Access and ingress
Hold a Nursing Degree with at least 240 ECTS, or legal equivalent, obtained from a Portuguese higher education institution; / • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with at least 240 ECTS, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process.
Teaching activities take place mostly in the after-work regime, some of which may be diurnal. The internships are diurnal or in shifts, following the activity of the guiding nurses.
