University of Lisbon achieves its highest score in SCimago Institutions Rankings

The University of Lisbon achieves its highest score in the SCimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) in the university section, placing it in 138th place internationally. Additionally, the ranking graded various scientific fields of ULisboa as some of the best in the world.

In this edition, the evaluated 9,756 institutions, of which 5,051 were universities. ULisboa rose 6 places in the university ranking and once again is the highest ranking univeristy at a national level.

This ranking sets itself apart by evaluating not only universities, but also other research institutions, such as companies, government bodies and non-governmental institutions.

In this edition, ULisboa is the national front-runner in 14 fields and 20 sub-fields, and is in second place in 2 fields and 15 sub-fields. The highlighted ULisboa as one of the best universities in the world in History (10), Ocean Engineering (12), Geography, Planning and Development (22) and Architecture (26).

Also included in the Top 100 were Anthropology (50), Forestry (51), Aquatic Sciences (62), Oceanography (63), Civil and Structural Engineering (70), Social Sciences (71), Arts and Humanities (81), Building and Construction (84), Economics (85), Management and Accounting (94), Literature (96), Industrial Engineering (96), Communication (97) and Environmental Sciences (98).

has been published annually since 2009, combining three different sets of indicators based on research performance (50%), innovation (30%) and social impact (20%).
