Article of CIISA-FMV of ULisboa nominated "Paper of the Week" by the Journal of Biological Chemistry
An article by Immacolata Venditto (former PhD student at CIISA-FMV-ULisboa) and colleagues from the Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology laboratory of FMV-ULisboa was published by “The Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC, 24 April 2015; Vol. 290, No. 17)” and nominated as The Paper of the Week. JBC is published by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and The Papers of the Week are selected by JBC Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members as representing the top 2% of JBC papers in overall importance. The papers are accompanied by a brief summary that explains the findings of the paper and why it was chosen for this honor. In addition, the cover art of April the 24th JBC issue reporting FMV-ULisboa publication (see attachment) shows the structure of the trimodular endo-β-1,4-glucanase B (BhCel5B) from Bacillus halodurans (the image was produced and assembled by Prof. Victor D. Alves). This work was a collaboration of FMV-ULisboa scientists with the groups of Prof. Harry Gilbert from The University of Newcastle and Prof. Paul Knox from The University of Leeds.
